3M™ 983 Series Conspicuity Reflective Tape – High Quality Standard for Conspicuity Marking
The 3M™ 983 series of retro reflective films are made for vehicle conspicuity, which especially includes fire trucks, brush trucks, pumper trucks and other fire apparatus. But 983 is not the only reflective tape made by 3M that can be used for this type of vehicle conspicuity application. 3M Type 4 – 3930 series, also referred to as 3M high intensity prismatic, as well as 3M 4000 series wide angle Type 11 film, or DG3 Diamond Grade, also fulfill NFPA 1901 recommendations.

3M™ High Intensity Prismatic Type 4 Reflective Tape – 3930 Series – Affordable
3M Type 4 3930 reflective tapes are used across the country and around the world for traffic signs. The tape is bright, rugged, scratch resistant, and reflects at wide angles. When cut into 6 inch wide rolls, 3930 works very well for Chevron Striping on fire trucks. The two most popular colors for NFPA 1901 chevron applications are Fluorescent Yellow Green and Red, however, blue, green, orange, standard yellow and white are also available. Many non fire entities prefer to use colors other than the standard lime and red so that their vehicles are not mistaken for a fire department vehicle.
Installers like this film because it is much more affordable, and has the same quality construction as 983 and 4000 series. It is also very bright and several times brighter than NFPA minimum standards.

3M™ DG3 Diamond Grade Retro Reflective Tape Product – 4000 Series – High Quality Wide Observation Film
3M 4000 Series is a Type 11 Wide Angle Ultra Bright sign type sheeting. It is the brightest class of reflective tape available and what you would see on the very brightest interstate signs. It is very similar in construction to 983 and 3930. We use 3M 4000 series to create our Diamond Dots for diamond plate and our DG3 Chevron Panels.
Our Diamond Dots are 3/4″ diamond dots are peel and stick dots designed to create chevrons on diamond plate. The material is NFPA 1901 compliant. We carry Fluorescent Lime (yellow/green), Red, and Standard Yellow.
